Non-Scale Victories: The Progress the Bathroom Scale Can't See
The scale measures gravity’s opinion once a day and somehow got promoted to sole judge of progress — while the real victories (stairs conquered, sleep deepened, jeans negotiating peace) go unrecorded. The non-scale victory inventory is the honest scoreboard. Start keeping it.

The Physical NSV List
Stairs without the huff, the walk that got longer without feeling longer, rings and watches loosening, the crossed-legs comfort, blood pressure numbers drifting kindly, energy at 4pm where the crash lived. Each one is measurable progress the scale has no sensor for.
The Behavioral NSVs
The habits ARE victories: the week of packed lunches, the walk streak, water bottle emptied daily, the vegetable that became routine. Outcome lags behavior by weeks — scoring the behavior keeps morale funded through the lag.

The Clothing Court
Clothes out-testify scales: the jeans easing, the belt notch migrating, the shirt buttoning without negotiation. Fabric measures circumference where scales measure everything-including-water. Keep one honest reference outfit; try it monthly; trust its verdict.
The Tracking Ritual
The NSV journal: one line per victory, dated, reviewed monthly (the accumulating list is the antidote to plateau despair — flat scale weeks routinely coexist with full NSV pages). The scale keeps its Tuesday slot; it just loses the gavel.
Log the stairs, the jeans, the streaks, the 4pm energy. The scale was one instrument promoted past its competence — the victory inventory is the full orchestra, and it plays weekly.
